A Lovely Afternoon...

We had a lovely end to our half term in Year One this afternoon! We had two very special visitors come to see us... One was very small, brown and had four legs, and she brought her owner with her -Andrew Burge, a local vet at Damory Veterinary Clinic.

Andrew gave us a lovely talk about being a Vet and we learnt lots of interesting things. He told us about all the animals they see at the vets and some of the problems the animals might have. He showed us some X-rays of some animals and we had to guess what was wrong with the animal! Andrew told us all about microchips and he brought one in so we could see how tiny it was. Bailey let us scan her so we could find her microchip number! Andrew also brought in a model of a heart and a model of a dogs hips, it was great because he also showed us Bailey's hip X-ray so we could see how it all linked up!

Bailey has just had her first birthday and she was very well behaved today! She let everybody listen to her heart with a stethoscope and even let us scan her heart so we could see it beating on the screen!

Bailey definitely enjoyed her cuddles today! Thank you for all being so quiet...she felt so at home in the classroom that she fell asleep!

What a perfect end to our topic 'All Creatures Great and Small'. A big thank you to Andrew and Bailey for coming to visit us!
